A tidy Mac, from the menu bar
Your Downloads, tidied. Oma asks first.
Oma sorts, renames and tags the mess on your Desktop and in Downloads. She shows you the plan before touching a file, and nothing is ever deleted, only moved to the Trash.
Three promises
Before Oma touches anything.
Oma reads your files here, on this Mac.
The only thing that leaves your Mac is your purchase status, so Oma works on every Mac you own. Files and file names never leave.
Nothing is permanently deleted.
Oma only moves things to the Trash, and you decide when to empty it. Trash always asks, even when Oma runs by herself.
Every change is listed in History.
Moves, renames and tags can be undone for 90 days, one file or a whole run at a time. Trashed files are put back from the Trash.
How it works
You see the plan. Then you say yes.
Let Oma into a folder and she has a look. Every file she would move, rename or send to the Trash is on one list, and nothing happens until you approve it.
- Let Oma into a folder. Downloads needs no permission. Desktop and other folders ask once.
- Pick a few recipes. Oma suggests some from what's really in the folder. Switch off anything you'd rather she left.
- Review and approve. Untick anything she should leave be, then press Approve. Undo is one click away in History.
Had a look. Here's what I'd do. Switch off anything you'd rather I left.
Recipes
Rules that read like a sentence.
A recipe says which files, and what happens to them. Start from one of thirteen, or write your own by tapping the words: kind, name, age, size, where it came from.
Organize
- Screenshots
- Invoices and receipts
- Photos and videos
- Archive old downloads
- Statements and payslips
- Rename unreadable documents
- Audio and recordings
- Contracts and agreements
- PDFs and documents
Clean up

Ask first, until you'd rather she didn't.
Every recipe starts on Ask first. After three batches in a folder with nothing undone, Oma offers to just handle it. You can say no, and she won't ask again.
Ask first
Oma prepares a batch and waits. A count appears by the menu bar icon. Approve it from the panel, or straight from the notification.
Just handle it Grand Oma
Oma tidies on her schedule and tells you afterwards, with Undo in the notification. Anything bound for the Trash still waits for your yes.
The small things
Made to sit quietly in the corner.
Lives in the menu bar
A count by the icon says when something is ready. Click it for the panel; ⌥-click to tidy now.
Drop a file on the panel
See what Oma would do with it before she does it. Drop a folder and she tidies it once.
Pause when you need quiet
For an hour, until tomorrow, or until you say. Oma picks up where she left off.
Careful with half-finished files
Files still downloading, only in iCloud, or changed in the last few seconds are skipped and tried again next time.
Never overwrites
If a name is taken, Oma adds " 2", so one file never replaces another.
A weekly summary, if you like
Files tidied, space sent to the Trash, anything waiting. Off until you turn it on.
Smart naming · Grand Oma
Scan 12 Mar.pdf becomes Water bill March 2026.pdf.
Oma reads the start of a PDF or document on your Mac and gives it a short name that says what it is. Nothing is uploaded.
Requires macOS 26 and Apple Intelligence. Elsewhere, recipes keep the file's own name.
